SUMMARY:Exhibition: Des glaciers aux Bains des Pâquis
DESCRIPTION:“From the glaciers to the Bains des Pâquis”: the water of Lake Geneva\, a precious asset to be protected \nAs part of Mr. Alfonso Gomez’s year as mayor\, the City of Geneva\, in partnership with the Maison de la Rivière\, is honoring Lake Geneva and its biodiversity with an open-air exhibition. The images taken by photographer Michel Roggo plunge the public into the fascinating world of the lake. Water shapes territories\, creates surprising aquatic landscapes and becomes an essential habitat for plants and animals. Lake Geneva is an essential\, but often little-known\, reservoir of nature in the Geneva region. This exhibition reveals an unseen universe where primordial biological balances are at play. \n “Des glaciers aux Bains des Pâquis”\, open-air exhibition at the Bains des Pâquis from March 12 to April 15\, 2026

SUMMARY:Huma exhibition
DESCRIPTION:And what would you pack in your suitcase? \nOpening October 2 at 5pm \nThe exhibition takes the form of a memory game inspired by the classic “In my suitcase\, there are…”: “Look at each panel once\, reading the word lists. At the end of your turn\, can you remember all the objects? Can you recite the whole list?” A journey for young and old\, to immerse\, reflect\, and perhaps… recognize yourself. \nAn exhibition by the Païdos association

SUMMARY:Green water
DESCRIPTION:An exhibition by the Fondation Bodmer and the Botanical Garden\, in collaboration with the Bains des Pâquis \nOpening July 3 at 6 p.m. \nAquatic plants from near and far \nAny plant species living constantly or temporarily in water or in a humid environment can be considered an aquatic plant. Algae are included even if they are not plants in the strict sense. \nWater can be salty or fresh\, running (sea\, lake\, stream) or stagnant (mangrove\, marsh\, pond). Plants may be fixed or drifting\, completely or partially submerged\, microscopic or visible to the naked eye. They may belong to the algae\, moss\, fern or flowering plant groups. \nWater depth (reduced luminosity)\, variations in water level\, nutrient richness (eutrophication)\, acidity\, soil type and currents strongly influence the development and propagation of species. \nBotanists divide aquatic plants into two groups: macrophytes and microphytes. Macrophytes include flowering plants\, ferns\, mosses and algae visible to the naked eye. The latter include microscopic algae…

SUMMARY:Sacred Lake Geneva
DESCRIPTION:Sacred Lake Geneva \nOpening June 27 at 11 a.m. \nThis exhibition surveys over 2\,000 years of sacred history around Lake Geneva. It’s the start of a long investigation in museums\, libraries and archives. And in the churches and temples of the towns and villages along the lake\, in Switzerland and France. We set off in search of stained-glass windows\, statues\, frescoes and other evidence of religious practices. All avenues are explored.m Numerous testimonies and press articles are consulted and deciphered. These are not myths or legends\, but tangible realities attested by the documents\, places and historical objects we have unearthed. All represent the fundamental questions of human beings: where do we come from\, who are we\, where are we going?

SUMMARY:Exhibition: Science explorers\, past and present
DESCRIPTION:April 18 to May 22\, opening April 24 at 6:00 pm \nJust outside Geneva lies CERN\, the world’s largest particle physics laboratory. \nFor over 70 years\, thousands of scientists from all over the world have been carrying out fundamental research into matter and the Universe\, using huge\, sophisticated machines\, gas pedals and particle detectors. \nCERN has selected a series of photos from its archives\, dating from the 1950s to the 1980s. These images retrace a piece of the laboratory’s history\, where futuristic machines and cutting-edge experts rub shoulders. Often intriguing\, sometimes unusual\, these snapshots bear witness to CERN’s formidable human adventure\, where scientific exploration is combined with passion\, a spirit of sharing and\, occasionally\, a touch of humor.

SUMMARY:Exhibition: Clap sur le Léman\, part five
DESCRIPTION:Clap sur Léman – Part Five – March 12 to April 31\, 2025\nFilms with Lake Geneva as their backdrop are actually quite rare. Yet Swiss and foreign filmmakers regularly set up shop on the shores of the lake to shoot a few scenes. Directors’ relationships with water vary greatly. For some\, it’s just a distant backdrop\, for others an integral part of the narrative. Unlike the mountain\, which is a character in many films\, the lake is not an actor in its own right in any fiction\, except in the protean work of Godard\, who lived on its shores in Rolle.\nStrangely enough\, despite the presence of many talented directors and dream castings\, virtually none of the films shot on Lake Geneva’s waters have been a hit with audiences. These films will be remembered only by cinephiles.

SUMMARY:Exhibition: Cataracts
DESCRIPTION:The “Cataracte” exhibition will run from October 2 to November 10\, 2024\, with a vernissage on October 1\, 2024 at 6pm at the Bains des Pâquis\, accompanied by readings of Philippe Constantin’s poetic text and a talk by Dr. Tawfik Chamaa of UOSSM. A café-philo will also be organized. This work was presented at the ON/OFF festival in Arles in 2023 and at the Leica Galerie in Geneva. These exhibitions raise public awareness of humanitarian issues while offering a visual immersion in this essential mission. Cataracts\, a scourge that indiscriminately affects young and old alike in Africa\, were recently the focus of a campaign of ophthalmological operations carried out by the NGO UOSSM in Mozambique. This project was documented by Geneva-based photographer Denis Ponté\, whose in-depth knowledge of Africa\, acquired through many years of reporting\, was brought face to face with a reality as unthinkable as it is harrowing.

SUMMARY:Exhibition: Abysses
DESCRIPTION:Opening July 18 at 11 a.m. \nLong inaccessible domains\, the abysses of the sea have always provoked a deep fascination\, a mixture of curiosity and fear. \n“How many have disappeared\, hard and sad fortune! / In a bottomless sea\, on a moonless night\, / Under the blind ocean forever \nburied! “sang Victor Hugo. \nIn the familiar and nurturing\, yet often hostile and deadly\, element of the seas and rivers\, sailors\, fishermen\, explorers and even simple swimmers could\, not without reason\, fantasize about the strange creatures that swarmed beneath their ship’s hulls and feet. \n  \nFullscreen Mode

SUMMARY:Exhibition: The good offices of Lake Geneva
DESCRIPTION:Exhibition opening July 18\, 11am \nExhibition from July 10 to September 15 \nLausanne\, Evian\, Montreux\, Nyon and above all Geneva have played and continue to play a leading role in world diplomacy. These cities have hosted countless summits\, treaties and international institutions. \nAmong the reasons for the region’s diplomatic success are Switzerland’s neutrality and political stability\, its geographical centrality\, its transport infrastructure\, as well as its history of tourism\, its humanitarian tradition and Lake Geneva. \nIndeed\, the lake has played an important role in the diplomatic events that have taken place on its shores: a soothing landscape conducive to negotiations\, a barrier to ensure security\, an ideal recreational area for diplomats seeking to clear their heads between sessions\, and an advantage for transport (by boat as well as seaplane). \nIn this exhibition\, we only touch on a handful of the diplomatic events that took place on the shores of Lake Geneva. While some have left their mark on history\, many have been nothing more than vain\, hopeful attempts\, with no solution or resolution. \n  \nFullscreen Mode
