SUMMARY:Exhibition: River writings
DESCRIPTION:Opening on Friday June 5 at 6pm. \nIn the summer of 2026\, the Musée de Carouge and the Bains des Pâquis will be staging a double event focusing on the Arve and the artist Éric Alibert’s sensitive view of it. \nAt the Musée de Carouge\, the exhibition Les écritures de la rivière invites visitors to a poetic immersion into the world of this Franco-Swiss artist. Through works in Indian ink and watercolor\, Éric Alibert explores the discreet richness of the banks of the Arve\, carefully observing the fauna\, rhythms and forms of living things. His work\, which straddles the border between figurative and abstract art\, offers a veritable “writing” of nature\, where each stroke expresses an intimate relationship between humans and their environment.   \nAs an echo\, the Bains des Pâquis will host the exhibition Les Écritures de la rivière. Carouge et l’Arve from June 5 to August 11\, 2026. Through a series of thematic panels\, this presentation offers a historical and documentary reading of the river: its uses\, its trades\, its developments\, as well as the richness of its flora and fauna. Pieces from the collections of the Musée de Carouge punctuate this open-air tour.    \nTwo complementary exhibitions\, combining art and history\, to rediscover the Arve as a living landscape and a source of inspiration.

DESCRIPTION:Opening reception on Friday\, July 3\, at 6 p.m. \nWith its majestic swans\, Belle Époque boats\, and elegant luxury hotels\, Lake Geneva is today recognized worldwide as a haven of tranquility and a symbol of peace—a reputation further cemented by the founding of the Red Cross and the League of Nations on its shores. It is therefore between the lake and the mountains that people have been coming for a century to restore peace or attempt to preserve it.  \nYet this idyllic setting has a darker history. Like many other border and contact zones\, Lake Geneva was the scene of armed conflicts for centuries—conflicts that are often forgotten today\, fought between political entities that have long since disappeared. From antiquity to the present day\, naval battles\, sieges\, raids\, and pillaging have stained these shores with blood—tragedies whose most recent echoes date back just a few decades: despite appearances\, peace is never a certainty…
