SUMMARY:Cold water swimming lessons
DESCRIPTION:Would you like to start cold water swimming and join a movement of several hundred people who swim all winter at the Bains? Would you like to enjoy the many benefits of cold water swimming (immune defenses\, mental well-being\, etc.)? \nFrom October 7\, Les Bains will be offering classes every Monday between 12:30 and 1:30 pm in groups of up to 8\, to give you all the keys you need to get started. \nThis course is designed for intermediate and advanced swimmers (we don’t teach you how to swim during the course). \nRegistration at the Rotonde des Bains\, CHF 10 per course.

SUMMARY:Philo aux Bains: School adrift? with Philippe Favre
DESCRIPTION:Schools in French-speaking Switzerland are going through a period of profound change: a growing number of pupils are completing their schooling without mastering fundamental knowledge\, At the same time\, more and more children are dropping out of school. At the same time\, more and more children in Switzerland are dropping out of school. \nWhy do so many students struggle to acquire basic skills? Why are teachers increasingly demotivated? Are educational decision-makers too far removed from the realities on the ground? What concrete solutions can be envisaged to rectify the situation? \nPhilippe Favre\, a historian and teacher since 1981\, addresses these issues in his essay  School adrift? Focus on solutions . Drawing on his 42 years of experience in public education and his role as a trainer for the introduction of information and communication technologies in Valais classrooms\, he proposes some twenty concrete solutions to reconnect with excellence by reappropriating pedagogical engineering. \nWe invite you to a meeting with Philippe Favre to discuss the current challenges facing our education system and his suggestions for improvement. Parents\, teachers\, decision-makers and committed citizens are invited to take part in this constructive dialogue aimed at giving schools the means to fulfill their educational mission\, which is essential to the proper functioning of our democracy. \nThe café-philo will take place at the Bains des Pâquis\, on the pier\, and will be broadcast live on Facebook and streamed on YouTube.
