SUMMARY:Screening of short films on the pier
DESCRIPTION:– Screenings offered by the Spoutnik cinema on the Bains jetty\, free admission and films for all audiences. \nA satellite cinema within the Usine\, a cinema orbiting within Geneva\, a cinema gravitating around off-system works\, invisible stars or little-known planets\, Sputnik is a device for creating microcosms outside the profitability-machine-industry of commercial cinema. It’s a space dedicated to films – but not only – that experiment\, seek and question\, on the margins. \nSputnik returns with an open-air program for summer 2026 at the BDP: Three films programmed by Sputnik question the collective rituals that make us see and hear the invisible part that links us to the presences of the “possible beyond”. In contrast to the preoccupations of\nsummer\, strange forms of cinema take us elsewhere to worlds that elevate us both sensitively and spiritually. Contemplation\, memory\, magic and surrealism\, the light of the Moon and Water will be our guide to shed light on mysteries that have never been solved. \n“Fille de l’eau” by Sandra Desmazières\, (France\, Portugal\, Netherlands)\, 15min\, 2025 \nMia has spent her whole life freediving\, fishing and swimming through seaweed and rocks. Time has passed\, transforming her body and the landscapes around her. Loved ones have disappeared. Tonight\, Mia remembers. \n“Lanawaru (Grandpa Caiman)” by Angello Faccini Rueda\, (Mexico\, Colombia\,USA)\, 16min\, 2024 \nWhen a member of the local community disappears\, a boy is confronted with a childhood memory\, seeking solace in native traditions\, healing rituals and his grandfather’s advice. \n“Ali” by Adnan Al Rajee\, (Bangladesh\, Philippines)\, 15min\, 2025 \nIn a coastal town where women are forbidden to sing\, a teenager enters a singing competition in the hope of moving to the city\, while disturbingly concealing his true voice.

SUMMARY:The springs of the imagination always end up forming a lake
DESCRIPTION:“The springs of the imagination always end up forming a lake”. \nan exhibition\, performances and stories to illuminate the mysterious\nMarch 29\, 2026 from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm as part of the Festival Histoire et Cité\n\nAt the crossroads of the arts\, sciences and cultural heritage\, this initiative proposes to turn the territory from a mere setting into a space for shared narratives\, conveying meaning\, belonging and relationships. In this way\, the place becomes alive\, not through its materiality alone\, but through the stories that run through it and the links it generates\, enabling everyone to become part of it\, to recognize themselves in it and to experience it. To live the territory is also to tell its story. \n\nA proposal fromIIRRM\n\nSince its creation\, theInstitut International de Recherche sur la Radio et la Magie (IIRRM) has explored the relationship between magic\, art and science\, with the ambition of questioning dominant cultural narratives and renewing the ecology of the senses. The project Les sources de l’imaginaire finissent toujours par former un lac (The springs of the imaginary always end up forming a lake) is part of this line: beyond the transmission of a rich intangible heritage\, it questions contemporary societal and ecological issues by reaffirming the role of the marvellous in our collective imaginations. \n\nProgram of talks and performances\, from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm: \nFlash training – Guardians of Lake Geneva stories \nMaryne Lanaro\nContinuous 30′ storytelling on the pier\nSupported by the E.S.I.M. association\, this flash course is an immersion in the ecology of storytelling. At the crossroads of neuroscience\, mythology and life sciences\, it explores a simple yet powerful idea: when stories stop circulating\, places become impoverished. Through a founding myth of Lake Geneva\, collective practices and ritual gestures\, participants become guardians of stories – responsible for their transmission\, transformation and symbolic power. An intergenerational experience\, joyful and engaging\, to relearn how to listen to places and tell stories in a different way. \n\nIntroduction to the notion of wave epidermis by Jeska Kaola \nPaul Courlet\nPerfomance\, storytelling\, music 40′ around 4:00 pm\nIn this mini-conference\, Paul Courlet immerses us in the work of Jeska Kaola\, an avant-garde intuitive researcher who evoked the notions of brain waves\, synchronization and trance in her 1808 essay Épidermes ondulatoires (Kaola\, Jeska\, Epidermes ondulatoires Édition Solaris\, 1808). Disappeared from the radar and reviled by the scientific community\, she was in her time a precursor of therapeutic hypnosis and anticipated the discoveries about brain function made later through brain imaging. She was also close to the famous international trader Jaklos Bariolez Igwan (1755-1816)\, renowned for his audacity and divinatory powers. \n\nThe lake lamp \nDiederik Petters\nPerformance\, installation\, narrative 25′ continuous in the Yurt\nWhat do luminous objects have to say when we finally give them a voice? In this sound installation\, it’s light that plays the leading role: a simple electric bulb on a stand. It flickers. But even more astonishing: it speaks. Could it be that this lamp has emerged from the abyssal depths\, from the compact blackness at the bottom of Lake Geneva? A ghostly lamp that seems to carry sunken stories – tales of wrecked ships\, missing scenes\, lives or voices that have sunk into the lake – but also\, the tale of its own invention. \n\nA MOBILE EXHIBITION WITH \nMATHILDE TINTURIER\, HENRY DELÉTRA HANNA\, STEPHANIE PFISTER \n\nAND A LISTENING LOUNGE WITH\nERIC DESJEUX\, JEAN-BAPTISTE MOLINA\, MARYNE LANARO\, EVA ZORNIO\, PAUL COURLET\, DIEDERIK PETEERS

SUMMARY:Exhibition: Des glaciers aux Bains des Pâquis
DESCRIPTION:“From the glaciers to the Bains des Pâquis”: the water of Lake Geneva\, a precious asset to be protected \nAs part of Mr. Alfonso Gomez’s year as mayor\, the City of Geneva\, in partnership with the Maison de la Rivière\, is honoring Lake Geneva and its biodiversity with an open-air exhibition. The images taken by photographer Michel Roggo plunge the public into the fascinating world of the lake. Water shapes territories\, creates surprising aquatic landscapes and becomes an essential habitat for plants and animals. Lake Geneva is an essential\, but often little-known\, reservoir of nature in the Geneva region. This exhibition reveals an unseen universe where primordial biological balances are at play. \n “Des glaciers aux Bains des Pâquis”\, open-air exhibition at the Bains des Pâquis from March 12 to April 15\, 2026

SUMMARY:Come and sit down\, I'm listening
DESCRIPTION:Viens t’asseoir je t’écoute is the flagship project of RACONTE-MOI\, a non-profit association made up of volunteers who offer a free\, confidential and caring listening space in the public space to all passers-by who wish to participate. The project is apolitical and non-confessional. \nContext \nThe starting point is a simple observation: our society is more connected every day (transport\, information\, social networks\, etc.)\, yet the social fabric is increasingly fragile. The individual sphere is growing at the expense of the public and social sphere\, people are exchanging less and less easily with their fellow citizens\, and our lives are increasingly individual\, independent of collective dynamics. \nA number of issues arise from this: isolation\, particularly among the elderly\, the weakening of community life and social cohesion\, and mental health issues rooted in this lack of collective support. \nThis project is part of a general approach that does not target one of these issues specifically\, but by virtue of its flexibility and “broad spectrum”\, it seeks to give fellow citizens the tools to solve these issues through listening. That’s what this project is all about: developing the concept of benevolent listening within society as a solution to the issues raised. In fact\, this project attracts both the socially excluded and people intrigued by this format\, to be able to exchange ideas with strangers. \nOn the one hand\, Viens t’assis\, je t’écoute volunteers have been trained in active and benevolent listening: learning to offer attention to others\, developing patience and tolerance\, suspending judgments\, developing benevolence. On the other hand\, they offer passers-by the chance to be listened to and thus have the opportunity to chat with someone (fighting isolation)\, meet people from backgrounds different from our own (pursuing the objective of social mixing and cohesion)\, break down the ego/other barrier (confronting living-together)\, reinforce our confidence in our fellow citizens and in their benevolence (developing social cohesion)\, obtain emotional support by the simple fact of being heard\, and ask for professional help. \nOn this last point\, volunteers are explicitly asked not to give advice to those they listen to. Volunteers are not mental health professionals\, nor are they intended to be\, since the aim is to be “open to all”. There are times\, however\, when people ask for or need professional help. At this point\, the association’s volunteer hands over to the session coordinator\, who takes the time with the person being listened to to find the local institution that can best meet his or her needs. \nIn such cases\, Viens t’assis\, je t’écoute can act as a reorientation platform\, linking beneficiaries with aid structures. \nOperational & technical details \nThe organization is very simple: a dozen volunteers per session\, each seated on a chair\, with an empty chair in front of them. To make things easier for passers-by\, the chairs are placed in a line. The association’s sign\, bearing its name (“Viens t’asseoir je t’écoute”) and the key points of the approach (free of charge\, confidentiality\, benevolence\, etc.) is then put up. \nA key element is location: volunteers need to be visible\, and there needs to be plenty of foot traffic. Unless the aim is to target a specific population (e.g. a retirement home\, a student library\, etc.). \nChairs are spaced about 1m50 apart: enough privacy\, and enough proximity to make the project visible from the outside. In addition to the 10 volunteers\, there is a coordinator. This person will coordinate the three phases of a listening session: \n> Briefing (approx. 30 min): introductory tour\, review of the key points of the association’s Code of Ethics (sent to volunteers in advance)\, what to do in certain situations\, sharing of experience\, questions and answers. \n> The listening session (2h30-3h00): the volunteers sit on the chairs\, and the coordinator goes out to meet passers-by to answer their questions\, invite them to participate\, and keep an eye on the volunteers and provide support if needed. \n> Debriefing: feedback on everyone’s experience (without sharing the content of the stories\, which remain confidential)\, points for improvement. \nLink to the Code of Ethics and the practical guide for volunteers: https: //www.jetecoute.org/instructions \nFor volunteer management\, a WhatsApp group is used for volunteer announcements\, and a group for coordinators. Registration is handled via the website. Important point: for each session\, an equitable distribution between old and new volunteers is organized\, to help motivated volunteers gain experience and skills\, and thus enable the project to mature more rapidly. Motivated volunteers can then become coordinators to run their own listening sessions. \nDeployment & Impact \nTo date\, the association has carried out a total of 19 listening sessions\, involving around 70 volunteers and over 600 people listened to. The project is of great interest to many people and is growing all the time. \nLocally: demand from volunteers is very high. In less than 30 minutes\, 48 places spread over 4 listening sessions were filled\, from a pool of 140 volunteers. The association’s founders receive many requests for contact\, sometimes from abroad\, via their Instagram account. As a result\, requests for replication in other European cities are pouring in and multiplying. For the moment\, Paris\, Brussels and Lausanne are being developed. \nFeedback from participants and volunteers: very positive! Volunteers are delighted with this simple yet powerful experience. So were the participants\, some of whom even came specifically to take part. Some participants have been put in touch with professional services to ensure they receive appropriate medical follow-up. Even if the impact is difficult to quantify\, the listening sessions have had real and powerful consequences for the participants. \nGiven last year’s weather conditions\, many sessions were cancelled\, which is why we are requesting the Rue de la Monnaie space to alternate with the Bains des Paquis for the 2025 season\, so that we can be sheltered during listening sessions. What’s more\, offering these spaces in the center of town and in a high-traffic area makes sense and makes listening accessible to people strolling through the center on Saturday afternoons. \nIdeally\, sessions will alternate on Saturdays every 15 days at Passage de la Monnaie (subject to approval by the Canton)\, and here are the dates on which we’d like to continue at Bains des Paquis on Sundays between May and October.
