Bessa Myftiu is the daughter of the writer Mehmet Myftiu. She also taught literature at Aleksandër Xhuvani University in Elbasan. She then became a journalist for the Albanian literary and arts magazine *The Stage and the Screen*. In 1991, she emigrated to Switzerland. After completing a doctorate, she taught as a professor at the University of Geneva in the Faculty of Education. At the same time, she continues her work in writing and film. She is also a member of the Geneva Society of Writers.
