Starting at the opening of this new season, swimsuits and synthetic fabrics will no longer be allowed in the sauna.

Why?

This is because these materials break down when exposed to heat, releasing microparticles and harmful chemicals. The particles end up in the air and are inhaled by everyone present. The microparticles also accumulate in the wood and contribute to lingering odors. Avoiding synthetic swimwear is a simple way to maintain hygiene and protect everyone’s health, as these materials also harbor bacteria and fungi.

Proposed alternative

Since we do not wish to enforce nudity in any way—and to ensure that everyone can continue to use the facilities—lightweight cotton voile cover-ups will be available at the Rotonde. These cotton voile cover-ups are not a substitute for terry cloth towels, which are essential in the sauna. You may also bring your own cotton voile wrap. Swimsuits are permitted in the rest of the facilities (hammams and Turkish baths).
