How can you be a cowboy when you’re not a “boy”? How can you reenact the Wild West when you’
’re on the banks of the Rhône? How can you stage a duel in a saloon when you don’t have any glasses to break
or pistols to shoot with?

poneyXpress, founded in 2025, was born out of a desire to play with the Western—a film genre that seems both very close to us, with John Wayne, Clint Eastwood, and Lucky Luke, yet at the same time infinitely distant—both because of the differences in social and geographic context and because of the outdated values of its characters.

The COWPERSONS collective starts from the idea that the Western has always been a myth crafted to
represent a certain vision of the United States—a myth in which men kill as naturally as they breathe,
always in the name of honor and justice… poneyXpress seeks to reconstruct it
in a different way: by replacing horses with “hobby-horses,” muscles with foam
, and hats with cardboard.
